Description
Saltillo Tile is a handcrafted tile that is made from natural clay deposits in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. The clay is filtered, mixed with water and formed into tile of various shapes and sizes. After the tiles have been formed, they are briefly left out in the sun to set – this process can delayed by rainy and cold weather. Once the tiles have had a chance to dry, they are then fired in a kiln – where they are positioned in the kiln can cause variations in colors of reds, oranges and yellows.The tiles are then shipped out unsealed/raw and can either be purchased this way, sealed with one clear coat of sealer or sealed with one clear coat of sealer plus a clear coat of gloss. All coats of sealer are industrial/durable and are personally applied by Pyramid Imports.
